# Prompting Nano Banana

Nano Banana reads a prompt as a description of a scene. Write it in sentences, name the people and products you reuse, and refine one change at a time.

**Key facts**

- Sloosh has three Nano Banana models from Google's Gemini image family: Nano Banana Pro for finished work, Nano Banana 2 for fast exploration and Nano Banana Lite for 1K drafts.
- All three Nano Banana models in Sloosh take the same prompts and up to 14 reference images.
- Nano Banana Pro makes 1K, 2K or 4K images in Sloosh, Nano Banana 2 adds 512, and Nano Banana Lite makes 1K only.
- Nano Banana works best with sentences that cover style, subject, setting, action and composition, not keyword lists.

Nano Banana is Google's Gemini image family. Sloosh has three: Nano Banana Pro for finished work (campaigns, product photos, anything with type), Nano Banana 2 for fast exploration and big batches, and Nano Banana Lite for rough drafts at 1K. They take the same prompts, so find the idea on Lite or 2 and finish it on Pro.

## How it reads a prompt

Nano Banana does better with a full description than with a keyword list. It knows a lot about places, products and styles, so "a Lisbon café terrace in late afternoon" brings the tiles, the chairs and the light with it. Write sentences. Put the details that make the result yours into the subject and let the model fill in the rest.

## A prompt that works

- Style: photo, illustration, 3D render, watercolour.
- Subject: who or what, with colour, material, clothing and pose.
- Setting: where and when.
- Action: what is happening.
- Composition: framing and angle, plus the format, such as "vertical story" or "wide banner".

**Template**

```text
[Style] of [subject with its details], [action], in [setting and time of day]. [Lighting]. [Framing and angle]. [Any text in quotes, with its type style.]
```

## Using references

All three models take up to 14 reference images. Give each person or product a short name in the prompt and keep using it: "Mia is the woman in image 1. Glow is the bottle in image 2." The name is what keeps Mia looking like Mia in the second and third scene.

In Studio, add references from the drawer, paste them, or press Use as reference on a result. In Spacelab, wire them into an [Image Model](https://sloosh.ai/docs/nodes-generate.md) node, or use a Characters input for a person you reuse. More in [References](https://sloosh.ai/docs/references.md).

Refine in small steps. Use a result as a reference and ask for one change: another angle, a new background, a different action or style. Say what stays.

## Text in the image

Put the words in quotes and describe the lettering: "the word 'FRESH' in tall green hand-painted letters". Nano Banana Pro is the strongest of the three at type. For another language, write the prompt in English and give the exact translated words in quotes.

## Before and after

### Lifestyle shot

**Before**

```text
woman using face cream, bathroom, aesthetic
```

**After**

```text
A photo of a woman in her thirties in a white bathrobe, smoothing the face cream from image 1 onto her cheek, in a bright bathroom with pale green tiles. Soft morning light from a window on the right. Medium close-up at eye level, the open jar sharp on the counter beside her. Natural skin, calm mood.
```

### Same model, new scene

**Before**

```text
same girl but at the beach
```

**After**

```text
Mia is the woman in image 1. Show Mia walking along wet sand at sunset in the linen dress from image 2, her hair moving in the wind. Keep Mia's face and hair exactly as in image 1. Wide shot from a low angle, warm golden light, framed as a vertical story.
```

Without the name and the keep line, the second image gets a different woman in a similar dress.

### Seasonal banner

**Before**

```text
christmas banner for candle shop
```

**After**

```text
A wide photo banner. Three candles from image 1 on a dark wood table with pine branches and dried orange slices, lit by their own flames, soft haze in the air. The left third is dark and empty. In that space, "The Winter Edit" in thin cream serif letters.
```

Set 21:9 in the aspect ratio chip as well. The prompt shapes the composition, the chip sets the canvas.

### A small fix

**Before**

```text
make it better, more premium
```

**After**

```text
Keep everything in this image. Change only the table to polished black marble and make the light slightly warmer.
```

## Common mistakes

- Keyword strings like "4k, ultra detailed, trending". They add noise, not detail.
- Putting the aspect ratio only in the prompt. Set it in the chip.
- Unnamed people. A person with no name and no reference changes from image to image.
- Rewriting everything between tries. Change one thing and keep what worked.
- Drafting on Pro. Explore on Lite or Nano Banana 2, then rerun the winning prompt on Pro.

## Settings and limits in Sloosh

- Aspect ratio: 1:1, 2:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 21:9, 4:5, 5:4, or Adaptive.
- Size: Nano Banana Pro makes 1K, 2K or 4K. Nano Banana 2 adds 512 for quick tests. Lite makes 1K only.
- Up to 14 reference images on each model.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I keep the same person across Nano Banana images?

Give the person a short name tied to a reference and reuse it: "Mia is the woman in image 1." Add a keep line, such as "Keep Mia's face and hair exactly as in image 1." Without the name and the keep line, Nano Banana gives you a different person in a similar outfit.

### How do I add non-English text to a Nano Banana image?

Write the prompt in English and give the exact translated words in quotes, with a description of the lettering, such as tall green hand-painted letters. Nano Banana Pro is the strongest of the three Nano Banana models at type.

### Should I use Nano Banana Lite, Nano Banana 2 or Nano Banana Pro?

Use them in order: find the idea on Nano Banana Lite or Nano Banana 2, then rerun the winning prompt on Nano Banana Pro for the final. They take the same prompts, so nothing needs rewriting. Drafting on Pro costs more for results you'll throw away.

### How do I make a small change to a Nano Banana image?

Use the result as a reference and ask for one change while protecting the rest, for example: "Keep everything in this image. Change only the table to polished black marble and make the light slightly warmer." Avoid vague asks like "make it more premium".
